Black and white fun

The homeowner asked us to translate the look and feel of their sleek modern home into their girls' bedrooms. In order to achieve this goal, we decided to design the rooms with a black and white theme and playful design elements. Although this may not be a common design choice, we purposefully steered away from the typical hot pink found in many bedrooms for young girls, while still maintaining the "cute" factor. The original hand-drawn wall mural and the NYC skyline wallpaper were developed to incorporate the parents' message to their kids, reminding them of their cultural heritage and the view that they once had from their New York City apartment. The digital painting of an owl near the study desk was especially created by a Cuban digital artist, adding to the girl's extensive owl collection. Now the rooms have a layered personality while serving multiple functions. We successfully created a space where the girls can sleep, study, play or just ...hangout, with or without their friends.
